Add flour, baking powder, and salt in a small bowl and whisk until combined. In a larger bowl, add sugar, half of the melted French butter, vanilla extract, and mix together. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the larger bowl and mix until thoroughly combined.
Add cream cheese, the remaining 2 eggs, vanilla extract, and the remaining melted French butter in a large mixing bowl. Beat the ingredients until they come to a creamy, even consistency. Slowly add in the powdered sugar and mix until smooth.
Press the dough onto a 9 x 13-inch baking pan lined with parchment paper or sprayed with nonstick cooking spray. Pour the cream cheese mixture over the dough and spread evenly.
Bake at 350º F for 35-40 minutes, until the top is golden brown and the edges are fully set. Optional: sift powdered sugar over cooled top.
And now, the most challenging part: wait until completely cool before cutting the bars and enjoying this sweet, buttery treat!
